I once read that a writer is someone who goes through life seeing everything them as a yet-told story. This resonated with me as since my childhood I was obsessed with wanting to document my life and memorialize the important events and people that shaped me. This looked like piles of diaries and journals growing up, but transitioned to a very rookie blog in college and in my early twenties as a young bride. Belle, the bookish, adventerous Disney princess had been my childhood hero and I desperately wanted to be like Anne Shirley and Joe March, who both loved books and were constantly scribbling stories.
Since moving to our farm three years ago, it feels like every day is rich with material for stories. I have a hard time keeping up with the crazy things that happen around here, whether it's accidentally locking myself in a chicken coop, to the young calfs frolicking in the fields, to the date night my husband and I spent in our stinky barn so we could watch the miracle of lambs being born... Stories fill my brain and I feel like I could explode out of desire to remember these precious days.
So that is what this website is about. It's about STORIES. Mostly stories of our life here, but also reflections on how this life is changing and shaping us.
The most important part of my story is the day that my life was saved by Jesus. I was a young child and don't remember the exact date, but I was given new life and a new heart and eyes to see reality for what it is - God is the Creator, King, Savior and Friend that we all long for and He has made a way for us to be in relationship with Him. From the day I was made alive with Jesus, my story was became a unique part of the grandest of all stories and He lets me play a part in the story of my life that He is writing.
The truth that even my young heart knew as a child is that stories are meant to point to eternal realities God gives us to point to Him. He is the master Storyteller, knowing beginning from end and orchestrating every plot, character and theme into a grand design we see as history. While we can only see the back of this eternal canvas, the knots and tangels and sometimes confusing patterns, the King knows what He is about and He invites us to actually particpate in the writing of this grand story!
I hope that whatever you read here reflects the tone of and heart of the true Author and that you're inspired to appreciate your own story and see His story all around you!
